What Is the Appeal Period (Valitusaika, Finland)?
This is a Finnish procurement term. The deadline, usually 14 days, within which a decision must be appealed to the Market Court.
When does the appeal period start?
When the bidder has received the procurement decision and its appeal instructions, normally by electronic notification. The 14-day period runs from the day after receipt.
Is the appeal period ever longer than 14 days?
Yes. For unlawful direct awards the period runs for 30 days from publication of a direct award notice, and for 6 months from signature of the contract if no notice was published.
What happens if you miss the deadline?
The Market Court will dismiss the appeal without examining the substance. A procurement correction request to the authority itself is a separate route with its own deadline, so missing one does not automatically preserve the other.
