What Is Award by Specialist Lot (Fachlosvergabe, Germany)?
This is a German procurement term. The division of a contract into specialist lots by trade, for example separately for electrical, plumbing and shell construction.
What is a Fachlos?
A lot defined by trade, such as electrical, plumbing or painting work, as opposed to a Teillos, which divides a contract by quantity or area.
Is division into specialist lots mandatory?
It is the rule under the GWB, to give small and medium-sized companies access. A combined award is only allowed where economic or technical reasons require it, and the buyer must document them.
Can a bidder bid for several lots?
Usually yes, unless the buyer has limited the number of lots one bidder may be awarded. Any such limit is stated in the notice.
