What Is an Award Deadline (Zuschlagsfrist, Germany)?
This is a German procurement term. The period within which the contract must be awarded.
What is the Zuschlagsfrist?
The period after the tender deadline within which the buyer must award the contract, set in the tender documents. The bid binding period runs until the end of it.
How long should it be?
As short as possible, and under the VOB/A normally no more than 60 days. Longer periods must be justified.
What if the buyer needs more time?
It must ask the bidders to extend their binding period. A bidder that refuses is no longer bound and drops out.
