What Is a Bid Manager (Tarjousasiantuntija, Finland)?
This is a Finnish procurement term. A person who prepares and coordinates a company's bids for public tenders.
What does a bid manager do?
Monitors and selects which tenders to go for, reads the tender request, coordinates the internal experts who supply the content, makes sure every requirement is answered, and submits the bid before the deadline.
Is a bid manager the same as a bid consultant?
No. A bid manager is usually employed by the supplier and works on its bids continuously. A consultant is external and hired for a single tender or a specific stage of one.
What skills does the role need?
A working knowledge of procurement rules, project management across busy internal experts, clear writing, and the ability to read an evaluation model and see where the points actually are.
