What Is a Bid/No-Bid Decision (Teilnahmeentscheidung, Germany)?
This is a German procurement term. A company's decision on whether to take part in a tender.
What should a bid/no-bid decision consider?
Fit with the requirements, chance of winning against likely competitors, margin, resource availability, risk in the contract terms, and strategic value of the customer.
When should it be made?
Early, within days of the notice, so that resources are not spent on a bid that will later be dropped.
What is a common mistake?
Bidding for everything that roughly fits. Suppliers who are selective win more often, because each bid gets the attention it needs.
