What Are Contract Types (Auftragsarten, Germany)?
This is a German procurement term. The classification of public contracts into supply, service and works contracts.
What are the types of public contract?
Supply contracts for goods, service contracts for services, and works contracts for construction. Concessions are a separate category with their own rules.
Why does the classification matter?
It decides which threshold and which regulation apply. Works contracts have a much higher threshold and follow the VOB/A rather than the VgV.
What about mixed contracts?
They are classified by the main subject matter, usually the element with the higher value.
