What Is Debarment (Vergabesperre, Germany)?
This is a German procurement term. The exclusion of a company from future procurement procedures due to serious misconduct.
What is a Vergabesperre?
Exclusion of a company from an authority's future procurements for a set period, because of serious misconduct such as corruption, collusion or grave breaches of contract.
How long does it last?
Up to three years for conduct-based grounds, and up to five years after a conviction on mandatory grounds, unless the company has self-cleaned.
Is there a register?
Yes. The federal competition register records exclusion grounds, and buyers must consult it above a certain contract value.
