What Is a Deviation from Requirements (Avvik, Norway)?
This is a Norwegian procurement term. A bid that departs from the requirements in the tender documents, which depending on the circumstances can lead to rejection.
What is the difference between a material and a minor deviation?
A material deviation affects price, quality or other elements of real significance to the competition, and leads to rejection. A minor deviation can be accepted if it does not affect the ranking of the bids.
Can a deviation be corrected after submission?
Only within narrow limits. The buyer may ask for clarification, but not in a way that changes the substance of the bid or gives the supplier an advantage over the others.
How do you avoid deviating by accident?
Answer the requirements as they are written rather than describing your standard solution, and avoid attaching your own general terms, which is the most common source of unintended deviations.
