What Are the EU/EEA Thresholds?
The EU/EEA thresholds are the contract values above which a procurement must follow the full rules of the EU procurement directives, including EU-wide publication in TED. The European Commission revises the amounts every two years.
What happens above the thresholds?
The full EU procedures apply: publication in TED, minimum tender deadlines, the ESPD, standstill and the remedies directive. Below them, lighter national rules apply.
How often do the thresholds change?
Every two years. The European Commission adjusts them to reflect exchange-rate changes against the WTO agreement values.
Are there different thresholds for different contracts?
Yes. Works contracts have a much higher threshold than goods and services, and central government bodies have a lower threshold than other buyers.
