What Is an Excluded Supplier?

This is a UK procurement term. A supplier caught by a mandatory exclusion ground, which a buyer must keep out of the competition unless adequately addressed.

What makes a supplier excluded?

Being caught by a mandatory exclusion ground, such as fraud, bribery or other serious offences, where the circumstances are likely to occur again.

Can an excluded supplier still take part?

Not if it remains excluded. The buyer must exclude it, unless it shows the issue has been dealt with and is unlikely to happen again.

What about associated persons and subcontractors?

If they are excluded, the buyer can give the supplier a chance to replace them before excluding the supplier itself.
