What Are General Technical Contract Conditions (ATV, Germany)?
This is a set of German construction contract rules. Standardised technical rules for construction works, part of VOB/C, describing how individual trades are to be carried out.
What are the ATV?
The technical rules in VOB/C for each construction trade, from earthworks to roofing. Each ATV describes materials, execution and measurement for that trade.
Are they binding?
Yes, if the contract is based on the VOB/B, which incorporates VOB/C. They apply unless the specification expressly deviates.
Why do they matter to bidders?
They define what is included in a priced item and what counts as extra. Disputes about additional work usually turn on the ATV.
