What Is Human Rights Due Diligence (Aktsomhetsvurdering, Norway)?

This is a Norwegian procurement term. A systematic mapping and management of the risk of adverse impacts on human rights and working conditions in the supply chain.

What does due diligence involve?

Mapping the risk of adverse impacts on human rights and working conditions in the supply chain, acting on the risks found, following up the measures, and reporting on the work.

Who has to do it?

Larger businesses are required to under the Transparency Act. Public buyers also set it as a requirement in contracts where the supply chain carries risk.

What does a buyer typically ask for?

A description of the supplier's due diligence process, the risks identified in the relevant supply chain, and what the supplier does about them. A policy document alone is rarely enough.
