What Is a Lot?
A package within a larger contract that can be bid for and awarded separately, by region, product line or service type.
Why do buyers divide contracts into lots?
To make contracts more accessible to smaller and specialist suppliers, and to get the best supplier for each part of the requirement.
Can a supplier bid for more than one lot?
Usually yes, but the buyer can limit how many lots one supplier can bid for or win.
How are lots evaluated?
Each lot is normally evaluated separately against its own award criteria, so a supplier can win some lots and not others.
