What Is an Open Framework?
This is a UK procurement term. A scheme of frameworks that must reopen to new suppliers at set points across a period of up to eight years.
How does an open framework work?
It is a series of frameworks on substantially the same terms that must reopen to new suppliers at set points, for up to eight years in total.
Can existing suppliers be removed when it reopens?
Yes. When the framework reopens, existing suppliers may have to compete again alongside new entrants.
Why are open frameworks useful for suppliers?
A supplier that missed the first round gets another chance to join, instead of waiting for an entirely new procurement.
