What Is the Provider Selection Regime (PSR)?
This is a UK procurement term. A separate set of rules for buying health care services for the NHS in England, in force since January 2024.
Which services does the PSR cover?
Health care services arranged by NHS bodies and local authorities in England, such as clinical services. Goods and non-clinical services remain under the general procurement rules.
How is the PSR different from competitive tendering?
It gives buyers several routes to choose a provider, including continuing with an existing provider or making a direct award, and does not always require a competition.
What should suppliers of health services watch for?
Published notices of intention to award, which give providers a short window to make representations.
