This is a German procurement term. A defined field of skilled construction work, such as painting or electrical work.
What is a Gewerk?
A defined field of skilled construction work, such as masonry, roofing, electrical installation or painting. Works contracts are divided into trades for the specialist lots.
Why does it matter?
Because the GWB requires division by trade as the rule, and because the VOB/C contains a separate ATV with technical rules for each trade.
Can one company bid for several trades?
Yes, lot by lot, unless the buyer has limited the number of lots per bidder.
